My first impressions of Angeles City Philippines

Hello Guys ! It is my first trip report but my third time to travel in the Philippines.
First I am sorry my english level is not the worst but to write a report is another challenge. I will probably betray myself when I will often repeat the same expressions hehehe.

It is 12 15 am. I am sit in Tequila Reef's Angeles City Restaurant. For the first time, weather is really hot so I appreciate the aircond.

I visited a first time in 2008. I spent 2 weeks and we know all a first trip is always special for many reasons. I stayed in Pacific Breeze ( I was not on budget in this time because I didn't plan to come back there... I was married). It was wonderful. DAY 1, 9 Feb. 2012 (Thursday)

The flight with Saudi Airlines was pleasant, except a 2 hours delay in Riyad (one stop) but I slept a lot during this. Finaly I landed in Manila it was 4 30 PM. I found my bags (the only bad thing could happen was to lost it). I immediatly bought a SmartSim Card because I forgot mine at home in the early morning. I changed some money too. Rate was acceptable (55.1 pesos for 1 euro). I took a metered taxi and I arrived in Boulevard Mansion on Roxas Boulevard, just 1 minut walk from Manila Bay Cafe.

I like this hotel: cheap, spacious and clean rooms.  I am an easy guy to satisfy with accommodations but I like clean place and polite staff. Around 9 30 Pm and after a room transfer (my door was impossible to open with keys so I have changed) and install all my things, I went to the mall for a haircut.

After that, let's go Manila Bay Cafe (Formerly La Cafe) ! I liked the place because fun is different from Angeles City and my past experiences were very cool too. I went upstairs and I take the sit I usually was. I enjoyed live band but if Downstairs was full, Upstairs was pretty empty. DAY 3, 11 Feb. 2012 (Saturday)

I woke up around 2 00 PM. I was rested well and after a shower I went to the Robinson Mall to spend some time. I visited a very nice Spa in the 2nd Floor. 580 pesos: shower, Sauna, One hour massage( common room but classy and extra quiet, I didn't notify some guys came in after me). A very cool place, nice deal for the capital. I will go back there.

It was 06 00 am.... instead to wait the Swagman Bus at 11 30 I ordered a taxi for 3000 pesos. My budget was respected a lot these 3 first days and I still have a lot of money

I was glad to be in the taxi and my conclusion was the same I have read many times on the board " Next time, I will go straight to Angeles City. I am done with freelancers"

Daily spending money Philippines
Having checked my bank account after returning home, I averaged 6285php per day and this included all food, drinks, barfines, tips, and general expences. (I had budgeted for 7500php per day and in truth I could have done it cheaper).

Note: I don't drink much, and didn't bother with any of the "Grab my Balls" or "Ring the Bell" stuff that bars like to get punters involved with. That for people with more money than sense.... and Koreans of course...
I didn't go mad with ladies drinks either as there's no real value in them for me, or for the girls for that matter. They would much prefer an extra 100php tip the next morning.

I was lucky in my choice of bf's throughout this trip and coundn't fault any of them. They all received a 500php tip the following morning. The least I paid for a bf was 1200 from Blow Row and the most was 2000php from Love the Music. Average barfine worked out at around 1800php + 500php tip for long time. I didn't do any short times.

I spent 20 pounds on choc bars from supermarkets in the UK before flying out. This gave me all the gifts I needed for the 2 weeks stay. Not necessary, but for 20 quid, its not going to break the bank and chocolate always puts the girls in a good mood.

So that's it guys. When all added up its great value for money and there's definitely room to do it cheaper if you want. For me, this was just about right and I believe I got a good bang for my buck. 3. If you are planning a multi centre visit to Philippines like I was, just make sure Angeles City is your last port of call. As you can see from the title of this thread, I also intended to visit Subic Bay and Cebu, but when I got to Angeles City I couldn't bring myself to leave. This cost me 4000php in cancelled flights and some messing around to amend my hotel accommodation in Angeles City.

I didn't make many mistakes on this trip but this was a big one. Angeles City gets under your skin and you won't want to leave here to go anywhere else but home.

There seems to be possibly a huge deception or new way to earn more money in Manila Bay Cafe (MBC) these days and it involves Lady Drinks or LD. When you sit down inside MBC today February 10, 2012 there is a little menu besides you, a photo of it can be found here:

It's essential list of 5 or 6 main well drinks with the prices being 150 Php for customer drinks or 250 Php for Ladies drinks. Upon asking the filipina waitress she told me this is not new and has been around for quite some time. I personally don't remember seeing things like this in Manila in summer of 2011.She said it is not new ( Never heard about it last summer). The Filipina Waitress said it is the minimum prices for girls and some of the prices of other drinks on the menu at Manila Bay Cafe are 350 Php.

Staying Around Manila Bay Cafe

A lot of people like to stay around the Ermita/Malate area when coming to Manila... The EDSA complex is very popular and has several go-go bars with lots of filipinas in it that are reasonably priced and a good time. There is also Manila Bay Cafe (MBC) (formerly LA cafe) which is very popular for the FL scene. If you go to Manila Bay Cafe in the wee hours of the morning your odds of finding a real looker greatly increase as a lot of the girls head there after work to try out their luck. If you want a regular bar to have some drinks in the area Ka Freddies is a nice one, very near MBC. It has regular performances by a local rock artist (very famous to filipinos) Freddie Aguilar. They have good live music every night, and if you bring a girl with you it would gain you major points and a great GFE for the night as they all know who he is. There are also many bars walking distance from Ka Freddies or MBC that have girls working in them and can be a good time... As for hotels in that area it all depends what your preference is, There are plenty of cheap accommodations that are decent places to stay, and then there also places that are very nice for a bit more price (Hotel H20 is pretty cool but a bit higher priced) Check out Agoda for hotels in the area, they have a map and reviews of most places around.

Personally I prefer Makati for Manila nightlife and filipinas, I just feel that there are nicer areas for the day time and I will change up between EDSA or Burgos depending on the night. There are several hotels around Burgos you can stay at as well, one that is very affordable and basically right on the main strip with the bars is Hotel Durbin, rooms are around 1200 php/night... they are pretty basic rooms but clean and a good price. I on the other hand would usually stay a little bit off Burgos when visiting before I moved.

Burgos is a dump during the day with not much to do (plenty safe but just not my thing). One of my favorite hotels is the BSA towers (can be found on agoda) It is directly across the street from Greenbelt 5, a local shopping area. The rooms at BSA are reasonably priced and very large. You can get a one bedroom unit with a kitchen for a good price. The fact that it is across from GB5 is nice because you can go get a coffee at starbucks or any of the other places in the morning, walk around Greenbelt or Glorietta for shopping and something to do... There are also many great places to eat around Greenbelt, especially Greenbelt 3. As i mentioned above Greenbelt has several areas that have FL girls, one of which is Cafe Havana but as I mentioned before it is getting over run by foreigners and not as good as it used to be. There are plenty of other hotels in the area as well for a good price. If around the Greenbelt area on tuesday nights one of the bars, Dillingers, (3rd floor GB3) has ladies night... which is free drinks for all ladies. It is a VERY popular place on those nights and has many girls... Most are regular girls that are there for a night out but with the right attitude it is very easy to bring them back for a good time.

Traveling between Makati and Malate

Traveling between Makati and the Malate area is very easy later at night and a short taxi ride so you can check out both spots no matter where you stay. However during the day it can be a real pain in the ass due to the Manila traffic. I went from Makati to Malate this morning to take care of some business and it took over an hour in traffic for what is a 10-15 drive later at night. The traffic sucks in Manila. Anyways this is a pretty long response, regardless of where you stay you can have a good time. My preference is Makati only because I like to walk around Greenbelt during the day and early evening as something to do and I feel it is quite a bit nicer than other areas. As Tung Chow mentioned in the above post you can do the same in the Malate area too. Burgos (also Makati area) is a great place for the night life and is not a bad place to pick a hotel either. Its all up to what you want to be closer to and to what you actually prefer. Each person has their own preference and it is easy enough to try one place and if you don't like it move on to the next..... If you are planning to go to Angeles City to check out that scene or want to check out the beach around Puerto Galera Malate has some good shuttle services that make it easy to get around for a reasonable price.

For those guys planning your first trip to the Philippines, only interested in P4P, wish to save money, skip everywhere and go directly to Angeles City spending a good 1-2 weeks there before deciding what to do next. But if you are trying to develop some sort of long-term relationship with a normal filipina girl, and you have lots of time, Cebu Palawan or other beach resort towns are great places to start. On the whole, I've found the girls I've P4P in the Philippines give more of a GFE, especially in Cebu and the freelancers in Manila Bay Cafe.

American in Angeles City

I came over to Angeles City from Manila yesterday after a action packed night with a 80 pound Filipina in Manila at the Southern Cross after drinking with the owner and meeting all the staff.

Much more on that later and sorry no pics of her even though I did see her ID and the owner confirmed she was 19 it was 4am and I had been up 30 hours so it was right to business. I arrived yesterday at the Lewis Grand Angeles City and am happy here. It is my kind of hotel with excellent service and 24 hours bar and full menu from the restaurant available the entire time either there or in your room. I am sitting at the bar now drinking after some excellent Mahi Mahi.

I have my new sim card for my unlocked phone and can give that out if anyone PM's me but I don't post the number when I travel. I hit town and visited tequila reef and saw everything but after 30 hours up and 3 hours or less sleep in Manila I was wiped out from a meal in town then another an hour later at the hotel and many drinks so I just got up and ate and am starting over. Affordable Transportation Manila to Subic Bay

The cheapest and best way to get from Manila to Subic Bay is using the Victory Liner bus from Pasay Station not to far from Manila Airport better known as Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

When you get to Pasay bus station take the bus to Olongapo City and it will cost you around 180 pesos ($4.50).

The bus is air conditioned and quite comfortable using playing some local Filipino television station so it's best to bring a book to make the ride go faster. The bus ride from Manila to Subic Bay takes about 3 1/2 to 4 hours depending on traffic and you can take a Jeepney or Trike into Barrio Barretto if that is your final destination.

Boracay has plenty of beach side bars (40 or more) all along a 3 Km strip called White Beach, but none of these are GoGos, in fact Boracay does not have any real GoGo bars. Boracay has become expensive and much too over-commercialized but still it has a unique, relaxed fun nightlife party vibe that every visitor to the Philippines need to experience at least one time. The Philippines ocean water is crystal-clear and bathtub-warm, with very good diving, snorkeling and other water activities. Boracay is a unique mix of Filipinos, Koreans, Europeans, British, Australians, Americans, Russians and others, all there to relax and enjoy one of Asia's very best beaches. Almost surreal in its striking beauty and laid-back atmosphere, with everyting you need or want located along a strip of beach you can traverse on foot within a 15-minute span.

A lot of people say that Boracay is a "bring your own girl" destination, and I suppose that's mostly true, what a great place to take a girl who you like away for a few days to turn the Philippines GFE into a bit of a honeymoon experience. I have not tried this but it's on my list. Despite its reputation as a "bring your own" place, there is a reasonable freelance scene that gets going after 10:00 at night, if you look you'll see it and they'll see you. Also some of the massage girls are cute and open for some semi-pro action if your timing is right. Try to book a massage near closing time and strike up a conversation, ask them about the island, places to eat, etc. share that you're looking for a late-night dinner/drinks companion so they can tell you're traveling without a girlfriend. I had a near miss with one of these, she was game and had agreed to come to my room for an overnight after work, but the hotel I was staying in (one of the upscale properties on Station One) told me they did not let the massage girls come to the room. I found out on my next trip that all I had to do was come in the front entrance (off the main road, opposite the beach entrance) and tip the security guard p50 and it was "no problem sir." Missed opportunity indeed.

After 10:00 or so the filipina freelance action congregates around Summer Place (north end of Station Two) and Cocamangas (middle of Station One), although it probably migrates and may have changed since I was there last. Best to follow the loud club music, stop for a drink, and see what presents. Maybe better to bring a date but Boracay is far from dry in the girl department. Cost for me my first trip ranged from p3500 to p5000 but I didn't even try to negotiate and I now know that I overpaid by a lot. Checked out of Executive Plaza Hotel in Manila at noon. They have a deposit system for the rooms. When you check in they request a 500php deposit. Common in the budget Manila hotels I think. Manila Nightlife Newbie

Day 1
Arrived into Manila from Dublin (16.30pm) on Emirates Airlines ... very good airline, no problems. After passing through immigration I lifted money from ATM, jumped into a yellow airport cab and headed to my hotel (Executive Plaza) Good budget hotel, clean, good sized room, and in the centre of Malate. I had asked for a quiet room at the back. Got room 1014, 10th floor, perfect. Taxi was 200php.

After dinner with a Date in Asia girl in Mall of Asia (just friends), I headed to Manila Bay Cafe (formerly LA Cafe). Fantastic place. Last Friday I showed up at the Addicts bar crawl in Pattaya for the first time. Why I haven’t done this a long time ago is beyond stupid. Met a lot of nice guys there and it turned out that several of them are going to Angeles City the week after me, so I’ll join the show for the last 2 days of my stay in AC.

Now I’m working on establishing my HQ at room 901 at Pacific Breeze. It’s an excellent location just staggering distance from the main bars on Fields Avenue, and the executive room is one of only two rooms on the top floor of the building. But first I have to establish comms in the operation center. First my universal adapter won’t take the charging cable for my laptop, the pins are too thick. The problem is solved with a 150P adapter from the Cyber city at the SM-Mall. The other problem is that the Internet connection in the wall doesn’t work; solved with a new cable and connection through the phone. SIM card was bought at 7-11 for 55P. I am operational.

Fields Avenue area hasn’t got much to offer besides drinks and girls really. If you think the Indian tailors (or wherever they come from) in Pattaya are annoying be prepared for the massive mob of Viagra and Cialis sellers on the street. You need to be quite good at ignoring people here. Ignore them and the pesky little dirty beggars. Yeah, I know they are poor and don’t have much of a choice, but I like the more passive way of begging with some kind of dignity as I’m used to in Thailand. They may actually get some bath then, but here I won’t hand out a single peso.

In the afternoon I enjoy a beer at Kokomoz and watch the girls at one of the famous pool partys in Angeles City

Later on in evening I first drop by Dirty Duck. The stage is packed with girls, some good ones but mostly mediocre stuff. I’m then supposed to check out Gecko’s but I'm convinced to enter Valhalla. Davao Nightlife and Mongering

Was always a bit curious about Mindanao and the stories about Davao as one of the cleanest and safest cities in the Philippines.

I knew it was not a key destination for mongering in the Philipppines, but thought there has to be some sex filled nightlife. There is beautiful Samal Island with some great scuba diving. Did a bit of that, but unfortunately did not prepare enough to make the great dives. You need about 3 whole days and pre-defined reservations. Diving in Davao is not like Cebu with hundreds of options. You have to do some homework, which I failed to to correctly so my diving was limited to a simple one off Samal Island. It was still amazing and can only imagine what a boat dive would be like.

The Davao nightlife is limited to about 3 or 4 bars downtown and another good bar a taxi ride away. The center of town is People’s Park, Hotel Marco Polo, and such. About a mile south west of downtown is a major street and club called hot legs. This is the first club I tried, and the ladies all seemed pretty desperate. I just sat and drank one beer and studied the situation.

Did the simple plan in the first bar, but soon realized that was the wrong way to approach this.

The arrangement is a simple beer for like 180 pesos and then the lady drink is separate and like 250 pesos or the VIP package which entitles you to like 5 beers with the ladies of choice all for like 1800 pesos.

Finally found a bar with a really fun and sexy attitude and she was determined to have me. So I let her try. Took the bar up on the VIP package and the rest was a really fun time with the girls.

The one was especially aggressive and was the one to earn her 1000 peso tip.

Pattaya Thailand Angeles City Comparison

I flew from Bangkok to Manila, took a hotel car and it was about 2.5 hours drive to Angeles City (AC). Manila traffic jam was horrible, most of the driving time elapsed there. Next time if I could find the right flight schedules, I would fly directly to Clark to save my time and nerves! I stayed in Wild Orchid Resort, which was quite quite perfect with large swimming pools, good service and close to action.

Angeles City Expectations

My expectations of the city itself were not so high. I have been to other places in the Philippines and everywhere the quality of hotels, cleanliness and feeling of safety are below Thailand levels (when comparing tourist areas). Angeles City has a strange gloomy feeling, especially when you arrive there in night time - driving from dark highway through dark alleys and hoping there will be something pleasant to find.. Even if nothing surprising happened, for some reason I had a constant unsafe feeling. Street beggars and sellers are in every corner, as well as moms with children or children wondering alone. This is where the poverty really shows.

It's funny how the entertainment street Fields has copied its name sign from Pattaya "Walking Street" and so many of the bars have similar names. The difference is that there are no topless or nude dancers (maybe further down the street?), the girls are in their bikinis and mini skirts. What amazed me that some of the places are open 24h, didn't learn to barfine daytime yet. Based on looks, bigger show places categorized their girls to normal and models, barfine being diferent for each group. Genarally I found the medium sized go go's to be the most fun and value.

Angeles City Girls

In Angeles City there are so many young and sweet girls who speak perfect English (no communication problems). Many of them are quite inexperienced (don't expect much talent or a good BJ, even doggystyle can be a new experience for some), more like friendly neighbour girls than hard core professionals. Although in the bigger go go's the model girls tend to be strictly for business and many times they can be runners (as happened to me). LT price what I paid was from 1500 PHP in normal bars, up to 3000 PHP to show/model girls in bigger places. On average, i felt in AC you get a sweet go go girl for the same price as an average beer bar girl in Pattaya. That's good value for money!

Among other catches, I happened to find a nice and friendly little 20 yo / 40 kg spinner who was tight enough to make me easily cum multiple times with a condom (pics 1 & 2).
